SSA Important Import Eccentricities
There are two very important import eccentricities in particular that need to be mentioned. They are not show stoppers but are essential to be aware of:
- Storm Sewers Migration Defaults (Pipe Networks-Feature Settings)
The following is not an eccentricity but a must do: Do select your Part List Used for Migration. Civil 3D will look to this list for parts when importing and exporting STM files.
Summary |
Here is the eccentricity: When configuring you Part Matching Defaults, after you hit the ellipsis to choose a part, Civil 3D will show you ALL the part families in your PART LIBRARY, not just the ones from your PART LIST.
If you do by mistake select a part that is not on that part list, it could result in your parts not exporting correctly to the STM file and not importing at all into Civil 3D. So be familiar with your default part list for migration to avoid this issue.
- Imported Pipe Network Names Change
This will happen when you import more than one STM into SSA then export the project to one STM file. When the overall STM file is imported into Civil 3D, it may offer to override the first or primary pipe network imported into SSA. However, the remaining or secondary pipe networks will come in under arbitrary names.
Tool space |
The workaround is to delete the networks with the arbitrary names if the master STM was already imported, and give the secondary networks the new names that are coming in from the master STM file.
Pipe Network Properties |
The secondary networks can be renamed back to their original names if needed.
